Point West (Tskakopolous) NW corner of El Centro and Del Paso Rd)

The City Planning Commission will be reviewing the Point West plans at the August 28 meeting.  See agenda for more details.

Natomas Landing Project (Ose) (NE corner of El Centro and Del Paso Rd)

Dear Westlake Neighbors:

This is an UPDATE on the Ose property progress.  Many Westlake residents (470 signatures) and other Natomas communities have been working on this project for the past 4 years.  Due to the potential traffic impacts and safety to the children of the middle and charter school, residents have resisted the size of the project that would go on that corner, since it would involve a major rezoning of the parcel.  At build out, we would have nearly 1 million square feet of retail on the corner of Del Paso and El Centro – this is equal to the size of Arden Fair Mall.  The big “BUT” here is the lack of infrastructure to deal with the potential traffic.  As you will see from the letter from our Councilman, this project is on hold for now.  We will continue to stay involved in the progress and will keep you posted as we learn of any developments.

Thank you to all who have worked on this project – I encourage you to always be involved in our community

Regards,

E. Jesus Arredondo
Chair, Westlake HOA External Affairs Committee

At a meeting at Westlake on July 14, the Ose family presented a new plan with less square feet of retail space and includes hotels and office space. The current plan no longer includes any "big box" stores.  The Ose family responded with this revised plan after they ran into a formidable challenge at the Sacramento Planning Commission on May 8The Planning Commission voted in favor of the staff report to turn down the Natomas Landing Project as it was proposed.

The City Planning Commission will be reviewing the Natomas Landing plans at the August 28 meeting.  See agenda for more details.
